Holiday at Home photos

A day of creative activities, games and fun, including morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea at the Orpington Palm Court Hotel
(Orpington Methodist Church!)

Welcome to the Orpington Palm Court Hotel – the Reception Desk.

The day began with morning coffee and biscuits served in the Palm Court Lounge with popular songs from the 40s and 50s
and Cliff Richard’s ‘We’re all going on a Summer holiday’ playing in the background.

The day’s creative activities were soon under way.
Here we show the water-colour painting, drawing and marble painting.
Silk painting was a new activity for many. People really got engrossed and produced some beautiful pieces of work.

The reflective colouring zone was very busy. Finished work was laminated to take home as a souvenir of the day.

More activities – a serious game of Scrabble, carpet bowls, table tennis, and always popular – flower arranging.
There were some wonderful creations!

A special part of the day was when we gathered in church for a ‘Celebration of Age’ - an opportunity to reflect
and give thanks to God for his rich blessings upon our lives, and to show appreciation to the contribution
that older people make to church, community and family life.

Our fish ’n’ chip lunch served in the

Kim, in her role as compère host, chats with some of the guests.
Wood turning stimulated people’s interest; whilst chocolate truffle making proved to be a winner – and very tasty they were too!

The pyramid découpage card making activity was very appealing – a new skill for many!
Some lovely greeting cards were made.

Our thanks to Kim and John for organising the event - a good time was had by all.
