Our 2010 Lent Appeal was in support of
Harris HospisCare with St. Christopher's
The total amount raised for the Lent Appeal was £577.00. This is a wonderful sum to be able to send to Harris HospisCare. Thank you so much to everyone who filled a canister with loose change or raised money in some other way.
The Rainbows deserve a special mention as they "Went Yellow" at one of their meetings and, as a result, brought sunflower seedlings in brightly decorated pots, yellow playdough and iced buns to Sunday worship to sell. We are extremely grateful to them and, of course, to their leaders Pat and Alison for all their hard work which resulted in a wonderful contribution of £80 towards the Lent Appeal.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
From the Rainbows:
Following the presentation explaining the church Lent Appeal at church parade we decided to abandon our planned programme and have a "yellow evening" to raise funds for Harris HospisCare.
We brought in a donation if we wanted to wear something yellow for the evening, painted plant pots, planted sunflower seeds and coloured sunflowers for plant supports.
The Rainbows enjoyed tasting yellow food - jelly, sweet corn, peppers, lemons and pineapple to name a few; we had to resort to trying orange Smarties as unfortunately there weren't enough yellow ones in the packet! Nobody however, was heard to complain. We then tested our powers of memory with a yellow "Kim's Game" and to complete the party atmosphere all the girls took home a yellow balloon.
On Palm Sunday we added yellow decorated cakes and yellow playdough to our stall of now fast growing sunflower plants. The Rainbows were delighted to announce that we made an amazing £80! We would like to thank all those who supported us. We had great fun at our yellow meeting and were delighted to fulfil our Rainbow promise "To be kind and helpful".
THANK YOU RAINBOWS
