Pentecost Celebration

Pentecost Celebration:

23rd May 2010 - This was the day when churches celebrated Pentecost (Whit Sunday, as we used to call it) – the marking of the coming of the Holy Spirit and when Christians celebrate the birthday of the Church. On this occasion we did church differently, worshipping God through the more creative and multi-sensory activities that were on offer in different parts of the building, as well as in the more recognisable altogether times of praise and thanksgiving in the café-style environment, during the course of which there was also an infant baptism.

Coffee and pastries were served on arrival, and the whole event culminated with a buffet lunch and sharing of the Pentecost cake! As we celebrated Pentecost so we were transformed by the vitality, life and energy that the Holy Spirit brings through the creativity, challenge and celebration of the occasion. It is our hope, too, that our vision is widened and hope restored and that the wider church family is touched afresh by the grace of God who empowers and equips us through His life giving Spirit.
