Christmas Tree Festival

 About the Festival

A Christmas Tree Festival is like a flower festival but Christmas Trees are displayed rather than flowers!

From Saturday 3rd to Sunday 11th December visitors to Orpington Methodist Church on Sevenoaks Road were able to see a fantastic display of more than 90 Christmas trees!  The trees were placed and decorated by businesses and shops; church groups and charities; clubs and societies; families and individuals.  During the Festival people were able to view the trees and vote for their favourites.  The entry fee, including a Festival programme and voting slips, was £2.00 for adults but free for accompanied children under 16.

Live music was a feature of the Festival; organists, pianists, instrumentalists, choirs and soloists played and sang for our visitors.  Refreshments were available and additional special events took place during the Festival.  These included a Christmas Market with children’s activities on Saturday 3rd December; a talk on Christmas Trees and Traditions on Wednesday 7th December; a concert by the Orpington Rock Choir on Saturday 10th December and an Advent Carol Service amongst the trees on Sunday 11th December.

The Christmas Tree Festival was held to raise funds for our Family Worker Project and to draw the Orpington Community together at this very special time of year and people came to see the beautiful trees and take in the festive sights and sounds – everyone enjoyed themselvesf!
