Christmas Tree Festival

 3rd-11th December 2011
(and there's going to be another one in 2012 - go to the bottom of the page!)

We were delighted that Pudsey Bear was able to open our ChristmasTree Festival on Saturday 3 December  and very grateful that he could spare the time when he was so busy doing important work for
BBC Children in Need to which we were pleased to make a donation.

We were also pleased that the Mayor of Bromley, Councillor David McBride, was able to come to the Festival on
Saturday 10 December to view the display of Christmas Trees.

This exciting event had something for everyone.
Visitors could view the spectacular display of 88 Christmas trees, listen to live music
and enjoy all the special events
which took place during the Festival.

The Christmas Tree Festival could not have been staged without the help and support of many people.  Orpington Methodist Church family and friends gave exceedingly generously of their time, talents and money; the 12 Teams of the Christmas Tree Festival were crucial to the project.  Team members are too numerous to name; all played their part and brought about the Festival - a first for Orpington.    To everyone who prayed, inspired, supported, advised, organised, created, designed, decorated, painted, displayed, advertised, moved, donated, sponsored, paid, made, sang, played, talked, baked, served, tidied, visited, viewed and voted THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!

Festival Feedback

The Christmas trees have gone, the banners are down and the advertising boards have been removed - it seems that the Festival is all over!  However, the impact of the Festival will be much longer lasting, we are sure of that.  We had approximately 1500 visitors and the new friendships and contacts made as the community came together to put on a fantastic display and showcase all that Orpington has to offer are invaluable - and long may they continue.

LATEST NEWS!

There is going to be another one!    Following the success of the 2011 Festival, at which 84 trees were displayed, 1500 visitors received and more than £5000 raised for the Family Worker Funds, a proposal was put to the Church Council on 16 February to hold a Festival in 2012.

The Church Council agreed that a second Festival would enable us to continue to develop the connections made with the wider community, in particular the businesses on the High Street.  The 2012 Festival will be from Saturday 1st December until Sunday 9th December.  Put the dates in your diary now and look out for further news in the months ahead.
