On Wednesday 7th December a talk was given by Shirley Newton on Christmas Trees and Traditions. This took place within the church, surrounded by the beautifully decorated trees. Shirley Newton is a Freeman of the City of London and a City of London Guide. She formerly taught English and drama and was closely involved with the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre project; her roles included cooking authentic Elizabethan food for performances! Shirley is a volunteer at the Rose Theatre and has a life-long interest in folk lore. Her talk on Christmas Trees and Traditions was a fascinating and entertaining event.
