Christmas Tree Festival
Entering a Tree
Trees may be entered by an individual or by a group, for example, a family, uniformed organisation, club, society,
charity, business, shop, school, church… There is no fee for entering a tree but donations would be most welcome. This year we are raising funds for CASPA
(Bromley Branch) http://www.caspabromley.org.uk supporting children with Autism and their families
throughout Bromley Borough; and Freedom from Torture http://www.freedomfromtorture.org (helping those who
have suffered from torture, and their families, rebuild their lives). Please make cheques payable to Orpington Methodist
Church and write 'CTF' on the reverse. If you would like to Gift Aid your donation, please also provide your full name
and address, including your post code, and confirm that you are a UK tax payer.
Trees may be real or artificial. (If you enter a real tree please make sure that someone visits during the Festival to
water the tree if necessary). Trees may be any size: on your entry form you will be asked to specify (as accurately as possible) if your tree will
be less than 2 feet; between 2 and 4 feet; between 4 and 6 feet or over 6 feet. We may have to limit the number of
very tall trees!
Trees should be brought to the church on Thursday 28th November between 09:00 and 21:00 or Friday 29th November
09:00 to 16:00 (the Church is unavailable after this time).
Please note that there are parking restrictions in Hillcrest Road and parking in the Church car park is limited.
You can bring your tree ready decorated or decorate it in the church, but this must be completed by 16:00 on Friday
29th November.
You must provide your own stand for your tree.
Christmas tree lights are welcome but not flashing or musical lights. If you could use low energy LED lights
so much the better for our environment. Please do not bring your own extension leads – suitably tested extensions
will be provided where possible and appropriate.
The only limit on the decorations is your imagination! Groups might consider a theme to reflect their organisation;
this will be a wonderful opportunity to publicise the activities of the organisation. New for this year is an award for
the judges' favourite tree, decorated on a Celebrating Community - Near and Far theme.
You may place promotional materials relevant to your group next to your tree (but space will be limited) and do
remember that you may need to replenish stocks from time to time.
For security reasons it will not be possible to place collection boxes beside trees.
Any tree or decoration deemed unsafe by the organisers will be removed.
Visitors who come to view the trees will be given a voting slip. Small prizes will be given for the most popular tree in
each category.
Trees must be removed on Monday 9th December between 09:00 and 19:00. Any unclaimed trees will be donated to
local charities.
Have fun!
