Christmas Tree Festival

 Rock Choir Concert 

On Saturday 10th December the Orpington Rock Choir gave a concert in Orpington Methodist Church.   Rock Choir was established in 2005 by Caroline Redman Lusher.  She has attracted the top musicians and tutors from across the UK to help her introduce Rock Choir to communities as far afield as Edinburgh and Southampton.

Rock Choir captured the attention of Universal in 2009 when "The Peoples Choir" was offered their own 4-album record deal; Rock Choir Vol 1 went straight to number 5 in the UK Mid week chart and in 2011, a Deluxe edition was released on itunes to celebrate the TV documentary, The Choir That Rocks which was aired in June 2011.

The Orpington Rock Choir is conducted by Nik Haley, who has written original songs and music for television and radio broadcasts, theatre and film.  He holds a Masters Degree in Composition for Film and Television (with Distinction) from the London College of Music.  The Choir rehearses at Orpington Methodist Church and we were delighted that they were able to give this concert of upbeat Popular, Gospel and Motown music as part of the Christmas Tree Festival.  The concert also included the opportunity to sing along with the Rock Choir in a selection of seasonal music and carols.
