Wider Links

Orpington Methodist Church is part of the worldwide Christian Church.  We belong to several wider groupings, and we have links with many other churches and charities.  Some of these are given below, with links to their websites.

In Methodism local churches are grouped together in 'circuits'.  We are part of the Orpington & Chislehurst Circuit:

London District of the Methodist Church web page
The country is divided into over 30 Methodist 'districts'.  Orpington & Chislehurst Circuit is part of the London District which covers roughly the area within the M25.  Because of its large size the London District has three 'chairs' instead of the usual one.

The Methodist Church of Great Britain: web page
Although Methodism has spread througout the world, each country has its own autonomous 'connexion'.  The Methodist Connexion of Great Britain consists of all Methodist churches, members, ministers and organisations within England, Scotland and Wales.  It is governed by an annual Conference of elected representatives.  Each year a president and vice-president are appointed to serve the connexion.
